Our Story

Handmade buckwheat husk pillows, made one at a time — from our hands to your family.

Cuddle Beans is a small, family-run business in Singapore. We make handmade buckwheat husk pillows, baby pillows and personalised gifts with your little one's name on them — the kind of newborn baby gift we would want to give our own family.

How it all started

It started with Mum

Her love for sewing and our growing family.

About 12 years ago, as grandchildren, nieces, nephews and more little ones joined the family, Mum loved making things for them by hand.

One of those little handmade gifts was the traditional husk pillow — our family had known it for generations.

Family and friends loved them. Mum started making more and more… and we thought, why not turn something she loves into a little handicraft business?

That was the beginning of Cuddle Beans.

What's inside matters too

Pretty on the outside. Carefully prepared on the inside.

From the very beginning, we believed that what goes inside our pillows deserves just as much care as the fabric and sewing you see. Having heard of cases where poorly prepared husks became infested with unwanted pests, we chose to take extra care with ours.

  • WashedThoroughly cleaned to remove dust and impurities.
  • Sun-driedNaturally dried under direct sunlight.
  • Hand-pickedOnly the good husks are carefully selected by hand.

We are not a production line like some sellers. We make one pillow at a time, in small batches, with care and patience.

It takes more time and effort — but when you're making something for a little one, we believe the things you don't see matter too.

Our journey of improvement

We kept improving

Because we're always thinking about what's best.

Cuddle Beans began with traditional beansprout husks that we had known and used for many years. But being handmade doesn't mean we should stop learning or improving.

About 2 years ago, after comparing our options, we made an important change to buckwheat husks.

Then — beansprout husks

  • Heavier
  • Durable
  • Will disintegrate over time

Now — buckwheat husks

  • Lighter
  • Extremely durable
  • Does not chip off easily

It wasn't about changing for the sake of change. It was about choosing what we felt was better for the Cuddle Beans we make today.

Some traditions are worth keeping. Some things are worth improving.

Made by hand

Made to be shared

Because handmade joy should be within reach.

Cuddle Beans started with making pillows as gifts for the little ones in our own family. So even as we grow, we never wanted handmade to mean expensive or out of reach.

There is time, patience and a lot of handwork behind every pillow we make — but we still try our best to keep our prices reasonable, because we want more families to have the chance to own something personal, thoughtfully made and handmade with care.

  • Thoughtful handmade quality
  • Accessible for more families
  • A kinder, cosier tomorrow

We may be a small handmade business, but that's exactly how we want to stay. One pillow at a time. From our hands, to your family.
